Volkswagen ID.UNYX: stylish electric SUV makes its debut in China
Volkswagen is expanding its presence in China's competitive electric vehicle market with the introduction of the ID.UNYX, a stylish electric coupe SUV to be launched in mid-July.
Here's What We Know
The ID.UNYX, called "Yu Zhong" in Chinese, marks Volkswagen's first step in producing electric vehicles exclusively for the Chinese market. Developed by Volkswagen's Anhui New Energy Vehicle (NEV) joint venture, the first of its kind in China, this elegant electric vehicle made its debut at the 2024 Beijing Motor Show.
With a length of 4663 mm, a width of 1860 mm, a height of 1610 mm and a wheelbase of 2766 mm, the ID.UNYX combines stylish design with practical space.
It is available in two powertrain options: with a single 170 kW motor and with two motors - 80 kW for the front and 170 kW for the rear. Thanks to the 82.4 kWh battery from CATL, the ID.UNYX boasts a range of up to 621 km.
The ID.UNYX doesn't just stand out for its performance. The design of the fastback coupé SUV with its multi-layered rear end, which harmoniously combines the rear wing, lights and high-mounted brake light, is sure to attract attention. The illuminated Volkswagen logo on the grille and the 21-inch wheels emphasise the vehicle's sporty character.
For those who follow the development of electric vehicles closely, the ID.UNYX may look familiar. Indeed, it is a slightly modified Cupra Tavascan. Volkswagen does not hide the similarities between the two cars.
The ID.UNYX is just the first vehicle in Volkswagen's new "ID.UX" series. Volkswagen plans to launch five smart electric vehicles as part of this exciting series by 2027.
