Acclaimed writer George R. R. Martin has hinted at involvement in the making of the film adaptation of Elden Ring
Last week the head of FromSoftware and creator of Elden Ring Hidetaka Miyazaki admitted that he would like to see a film adaptation of his acclaimed game, but he is not going to produce it himself. According to the Japanese game designer, for this he needs a competent specialist who will transfer the events of the game in the format of the film, TV series or anime.
Here's What We Know
Perhaps, Miyazaki is a bit of a liar, because, having such a partner as George Martin, who, remember, wrote most of the plot and backstory of Elden Ring, and in addition has extensive experience in producing TV series ("Game of Thrones", "House of the Dragon"), it is quite possible to entrust him to work on the film adaptation of the game.
On his blog, George R.R. Martin jokingly spoke out about the Elden Ring adaptations, stating:
Yes, and about those rumours you may have heard about a feature film or TV series based on Elden Ring... I have nothing to say. Not a word, no, nothing, I don't know anything, you haven't heard a thing from me, ummmmm. What rumours?
Many have interpreted such words as a hint that Martin is involved in a project based on Elden Ring, and therefore it may already be in the early stages of production.
Given the huge popularity of the game and the recently released add-on to it, there is no doubt that many film companies dream to screen such a high-profile project. Elden Ring has sold over 25 million copies since February 2022, and Shadow of the Erdtree DLC sold 5 million copies in just three days.
