"Everyone will be thrilled and surprised": the head of Arad Productions has confirmed that production on the Metal Gear Solid film adaptation is continuing (after 20 years)

For about 20 years, various film companies have been trying to screen Metal Gear Solid.

Despite the huge scope for creativity and the tremendous cinematic nature of Hideo Kojima's stealth action series, the process of creating a film/series never resulted in a film adaptation. First, there was no suitable idea and clear vision of the concept, then there were repeated changes of directors and writers, then came the era of the coronavirus - in short, there were a million reasons why the film never came to fruition.

Many gamers reasonably thought that the idea of Metal Gear Solid film adaptation was postponed or abandoned. But it turns out that the work is underway again.

Here's What We Know

Ari Arad, head of Arad Productions, told Game that the Metal Gear Solid adaptation is still in production.

We're still working on the script. I can't say anything. I think everyone will be excited and surprised.

Ari Arad's wording is too vague to draw any conclusions, but the fact that his company has been working on the film since 2012 and it's still in the scripting stage speaks volumes. At the very least, it's clear that there's still a long wait for the film's premiere.

Meanwhile, all hopes of MGS fans are turned to the remake of the third part - Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater, which looks promising and should be released in 2024-2025.
