Rumour: Horizon series no longer in development due to toxic and manipulative behaviour of showrunner Steve Blackman
For some time, Netflix and Sony were developing a series in the Horizon universe, but now its fate is unknown.
Here's What We Know
The showrunner of the series was Steve Blackman, who worked on the Umbrella Academy series. However, in the summer of 2024, it was reported that Steve was accused of "toxic, intimidating, manipulative, and repressive behaviour". He is described as a manipulative and chaotic showrunner who has created a toxic workplace.
Now Rolling Stone reports that two of Blackman's projects that were being developed with Netflix, the Horizon Zero Dawn series and the original Orbital series, are no longer moving forward.
However, it is not yet known whether the series has been cancelled altogether or whether production is still "on hold" due to the search for a new showrunner.
