Germany to buy 6500 MAN military trucks from Rheinmetall
The German Ministry of Defence has placed a large order for the purchase of several thousand military trucks from Rheinmetall.
Here's What We Know
The European government will purchase 6,500 MAN military trucks for the logistics units of the German Army. The total value of the contract is approximately EUR 3.5 billion and it is expected to run from 2024 to 2031.
The contract is a framework contract, which will allow the German Ministry of Defence to flexibly order the required number of vehicles. To date, the first order has already been placed: 610 trucks worth €312 million.
First of all, the order includes MAN trucks of the UTF 5t and UTF 15t versions with a modular mounting system that can be used for various tasks. It is worth noting that the German Armed Forces use more than 15,000 military trucks, of which more than 10,000 are MAN trucks.
