The iPhone 16 Pro will get 5x optical zoom, which was previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max
Almost every year Apple introduces new updates and features to the iPhone camera system. 2024 will be no exception, and with the iPhone 16 lineup, these changes will be especially significant.
Here's What We Know
Last year, when the iPhone 15 lineup debuted, the 15 Pro Max model was equipped with an exclusive camera feature - a periscopic tetraprism lens that offered 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom.
A new leak confirms that this year's junior iPhone 16 Pro model will also feature the same lens.
""Apple is set to expand the use of periscope lenses in its upcoming iPhone series, with Taiwanese lens module manufacturers Largan Precision and Genius Electronic Optical (GSEO) expected to be the primary suppliers, according to industry sources. Largan supplied periscope lenses for the premium iPhone 15 Pro Max launched last year. This year, more models in the upcoming iPhone lineup will feature periscope lenses. GSEO is likely to join as a new supplier for this year’s iPhones"," Digitimes reports.
Incidentally, last year's iPhone 15 Pro had a 3x optical zoom.
