Pixel Watch 3 with UWB and 5 GHz Wi-Fi appear at the FCC
Next month, Google will unveil the Pixel Watch 3 at Made by Google 2024, and the watch has already received regulatory approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Here's What We Know
Four model numbers related to the Pixel Watch 3 have appeared on the FCC website. It is important to note that this is not the Pixel 9, but rather the Pixel Watch 3, as the process for accessing the FCC label is the same as for existing Google Wear OS devices: settings, system, and regulatory information.
All four models of the Pixel Watch 3 support Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and 5 GHz Wi-Fi technologies. In March, there were reports that Google was planning to use UWB to improve watch unlocking on Pixel phones.
Unlike the first two generations of the Pixel Watch, which only supported 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz, this year's Pixel Watch 3 is expected to have 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax support.
Two of the four Pixel Watch 3 models come with LTE connectivity, while the other two only have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
The GBDU9 and GG3HH models were tested with eight straps, while only five straps are reported for the GGE4J and GRY0E. This may indicate that the Pixel Watch 3 will be available in two sizes: 41 mm and 45 mm. Last year, Google accidentally revealed the types of bands in the FCC document for the Pixel Watch 2, but this year, there is no such information.
The Pixel Watch 3 will be unveiled at Made by Google 2024, which will take place next month.
