Huawei has patented future design variants of its foldable smartphones
Huawei continues to develop its foldable phones, having patented several new designs for such devices.
Here's What We Know
Recent patents show that the company is experimenting with the size, placement and shape of its circular modules. The new designs use two circular modules: one for the cameras and one for the display, i.e. the outer screen. In some patents, the modules are arranged horizontally or diagonally, the latter including rings of different sizes.
In other patents, the modules are square-shaped. These developments reflect Huawei's bold approach to design, especially against the backdrop of other companies' trend towards larger screens.
The patents were registered with China's National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and first spotted on 91mobiles. While the patents do not guarantee that these designs will be realised, they do give an indication of possible directions for Huawei's foldable phones.
