CMF Phone 1: "X-ray" depth sensor to be disabled due to update
CMF Phone 1, which quickly gained a reputation as an affordable smartphone with unique features, hides an unexpected trick - its depth sensor can see through thin objects.
Here's What We Know
Although this feature is not available through the standard camera, users have found that third-party apps can unlock the sensor's potential. A video demonstrating the depth sensor seeing through a remote control quickly went viral, sparking excitement and privacy concerns.
Akis Evangelidis, co-founder of Nothing, explained that the sensor's unusual ability is due to the absence of an infrared filter. This allows it to pick up infrared radiation, which in some cases can penetrate certain materials.

Some users saw this as a cool "hidden" feature, while others expressed concern that it could be used for spying. In response, Nothing has announced that the next software update will restrict third-party apps from accessing depth sensor data.
Nothing puts privacy first in an effort to protect its users from potential threats.
