PlayStation 2 emulator PCSX2 developers have released version 2.0 with a bunch of improvements

PCSX2 was launched back in 2002 as a platform for emulating PlayStation 2 games, and today it is one of the leading emulators of the platform in general. However, even the developers themselves emphasised in a recent blog post that the last stable version of the application was released more than four years ago. It seems that the time has come to make amends.

Here's What We Know

The PCSX2 team has released the full version 2.0, making significant improvements to the gaming experience. The main innovations are as follows:

  • Updated interface
  • Removed plugins
  • Automatic game fixes
  • Customisation for each game
  • Wider compatibility
  • Big Picture mode
  • Translations from the community
  • Improved patch format
  • Improved graphics
  • FFMPEG video capture
  • Improved sound
  • Better controller mapping
  • RetroAchievements integration

The emulator itself is distributed absolutely free of charge, but you need to have the BIOS from the PlayStation 2 console, which is not so easy to get from there, but still a little bit of suffering is worth it to enjoy great games for hours.
