Samsung has certified the latest LPDDR5X DRAM memory chips for MediaTek's upcoming flagship chip

Samsung has announced the certification of its latest LPDDR5X DRAM memory chips for use with MediaTek's flagship Dimensity 9400 processor.

Here's What We Know

These chips offer data transfer rates of up to 10.7 Gbps, which is the highest in the industry. The new memory is also 25 per cent more power-efficient and performance efficient compared to the previous generation LPDDR5X.

The validation process was conducted using 16GB of LPDDR5X DRAM and took only three months to complete thanks to Samsung and MediaTek's close collaboration. This collaboration will allow smartphones with the Dimensity 9400 processor to utilise the advanced memory chips, providing longer battery life and improved performance for AI-related tasks. Chinese brands have recently started favouring SK Hynix memory with MediaTek's current generation flagship processor, so this will be an important change in the industry.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip, made using a 3nm process, includes an 8-core processor and Immortalis G925 GPU with improved ray tracing performance in gaming. It will compete with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Samsung's Exynos 2500 processors, also made on the 3nm process.
