Rumour: iPad mini 7 may get new colours, OLED display, updated camera and features

The 6th generation iPad mini was released in September 2021 and there have been no updates since then. According to rumours, an updated iPad mini with an improved display, faster performance and other features could be released this year.

Technical Characteristics

  • Improved display: The next-generation iPad mini is likely to get a new display. Apple is rumoured to have changed the way the display is assembled. The iPad mini 7 will still have a 60Hz LCD display.
  • Faster performance: The iPad mini 7 will be equipped with a new chip that will provide a significant performance boost. Initially, it was rumoured to be the A16 Bionic, but recent code leaks suggest that it could get the even more powerful A17 Bionic. The tablet is also expected to have updated components such as Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
  • Other updates: In addition to the improved display and performance, the iPad mini 7 may get new colours, an updated camera, and other features.

Some sources hint that Apple may release an iPad mini with an OLED display in the future. However, this is not expected until 2026 or even later.

Price and release date: The iPad mini 7 is expected to be released later this year, possibly in autumn. The price is likely to remain the same as the iPad mini 6, which starts at $499 USD.
