The British Army has received an additional batch of Swedish Archer self-propelled artillery systems into service

The British Army has received the second batch of Swedish Archer SAU.

Here's What We Know

The information was shared by the publication Forces. We are talking about 10 self-propelled artillery units. Now there are 14 units of them in total in the armament of the United Kingdom. The installations were transferred from the warehouses of the Swedish army. Now the UK is considering the possibility of buying 10 more systems from Sweden. By the way, the Archer SAU replaced the AS-90 SAU in the UK army, which were transferred to Ukraine.

Archer is a modern Swedish 155 mm self-propelled artillery unit based on Volvo A30D 6×6 chassis. It is manufactured by BAE Systems. The Archer is designed to destroy manpower, artillery batteries, bunkers, as well as to provide passages in minefields and field barriers. It is manned by 3-4 men. It is capable of engaging targets at a range of up to 60 kilometres (depending on the shells).
