Android users will soon get fewer "File may be malicious" warnings in Chrome browser

Google is constantly improving its Chrome browser and is now working to reduce the number of possible malicious app warnings when downloading APK files in the Android version of the browser.

Here's What We Know

Currently, users often see the "File may be malicious" warning when downloading APK files from sites other than the Google Play Store. Even if Google Play Protect (GPP), which scans apps and files for malware, is enabled, the warnings still appear.

The new feature, which is in the testing phase, aims to eliminate excessive warnings if GPP is activated. However, the warnings will remain for users who have GPP disabled. This change is intended to make the warnings more meaningful and less likely to be ignored.

The exact official release date for this change is not yet known.
