Hisense S7N Canvas - an alternative to Samsung The Frame TV

Hisense has introduced its own version of a TV that will compete with Samsung's popular The Frame. The Hisense S7N Canvas TV only displays an image when it senses someone is in the room. It is powered by Google TV and turns into a painting when not in use.

Here's What We Know

S7N Canvas was announced a few months ago. It is a smart TV with a matte screen and an artistic mode that turns it into a work of art when not in use. The TV will be available in two sizes: 55 and 65 inches.

The S7N Canvas is available in a teak frame, as well as optional magnetic frames in other colours. It has a 4K QLED display, 144Hz Game Mode Pro with variable refresh rate from 48Hz to 144Hz.

The TV offers multi-channel surround sound and is equipped with an RGB light sensor that automatically adapts the colour temperature and brightness of the screen to suit the lighting conditions. There is also a motion sensor that adjusts the display of different artwork when it senses someone is in the room.

The TV has four HDMI ports, two USB ports, an RCA composite video input, and an RF antenna port. Two of the HDMI ports are 2.1, and the TV comes with a backlit voice remote control.

Prices and availability

  • 55 inches: $999
  • 65 inches: $1299.99

For comparison, Samsung's The Frame TV currently retails for $1500 and $1999 for the 55-inch and 65-inch variants, respectively.
