Qualcomm is preparing to release its new flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 mobile processor. It is expected to deliver significant performance and efficiency gains thanks to specially designed Oryon cores and TSMC's second-generation 3nm process technology.
Here's What We Know
However, a fresh leak suggests mixed results. The Adreno 750 GPU in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will offer impressive performance gains per watt, while the CPU performance won't be as noticeable.
Looking at the internal testing data of 8G4, the CPU efficiency improvement is in the single digit percentage, but the GPU improvement is huge, D9300 peak at half the power is possible. If you care about CPU performance, please skip this generation and wait for 8G5. pic.twitter.com/6Le8FlN0M9

Internal testing of the GPU showed peak performance similar to the MediaTek Dimensity 9300, but at half the power consumption. This could lead to longer battery life and cooler running phones for resource-intensive tasks such as gaming.
As for the main processor, the outlook is less optimistic. The leak claims a multi-core score of around 7300 with only 8W of power, which is roughly on par with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This represents only a single-digit percentage improvement in the processor's power efficiency. As a result, buyers of flagship Android phones who prioritise processor performance are advised to wait for the next generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.
