Meta Quest will receive AI features earlier than Vision Pro

Meta Quest virtual reality headsets will receive AI features before the Vision Pro virtual reality headset, with the Meta update scheduled for next month.

Here's What We Know

This means that the AI features currently available in Ray-Ban smart glasses will also appear in Quest, initially in an experimental mode.

Previous reports suggested that Vision Pro would not have any AI features this year, and possibly not at all.

This month, John Gruber suggested that artificial intelligence will not appear in Vision Pro at all, as the devices simply do not have enough processor power to run it.

Apple Intelligence will not be supported by Vision Pro, despite the fact that the M2 chip is powerful enough for it. According to Gruber, the reason is that the chip is already running at almost full capacity, so it doesn't have enough reserve capacity for Apple Intelligence.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman published a contradictory report stating that AI will appear in Vision Pro next year.

The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses already include AI features, and the company says they will now also appear in Quest headsets.

However, the assistant will still be in experimental mode and its availability will be limited to users in the US and Canada. The "Meta AI with Vision" feature will allow them to ask the assistant for information about what they see using Passthrough on Quest. Passthrough allows users to see their surroundings through a video feed while watching or doing other tasks on their headsets.
