Apple could release the first foldable iPhone in 2026, as a competitor to the Galaxy Flip 8

Samsung released its first foldable smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, in 2020 and since then there have been several generations of this model. It was expected that Apple would also start developing a smartphone of this format, but until this day, the American company has never released anything of this kind. The latest rumours suggest that this could change soon.

Here's What We Know

Apple could release its first foldable iPhone in 2026, competing with the Galaxy Flip 8. According to a DigiTimes report, Apple began research and development on a foldable iPhone this year. It usually takes the company about 2 years to develop a new iPhone, so we can assume that the foldable iPhone will be available in 2026. The smartphone will have a similar form factor to the Galaxy Flip 6. When unfolded, the dimensions of the device will be similar to the current iPhone models.

It is reported that Apple has already signed a contract with Samsung Display to supply foldable OLED panels for the upcoming model. It was previously reported that Apple might release a foldable iPad or MacBook, but the company has now decided to focus on the foldable iPhone due to falling sales in China.
