Britain has ordered Martlet universal missiles, some of which will be transferred to Ukraine

The Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom has ordered a significant number of Martlet universal missiles, which will also be transferred to Ukraine.

Here's What We Know

According to an official report, the supply contract was signed with the manufacturer, Thales UK, a British company based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The deal is worth £176 million.

The missiles are to equip the British Army's current and future air defence assets, including the Stormer HVM system and the Martlet maritime/air defence missile system used by Wildcat HMA.2 helicopters.

In addition, the agreement provides for the supply of these missiles to support the Ukrainian Defence Forces as the number of Ukrainian military personnel undergoing training on the LMM (Martlet) system increases.

The Martlet is a versatile missile with high accuracy thanks to its semi-active homing head. This allows it to hit a variety of targets, from air to ground, at a range of up to 9 km. The missile weighs 13 kg, is 1.4 metres long and has a diameter of 76 mm, so they can be installed in large numbers in a single launch container.
