Star Wars Outlaws developers talked about the game's space-filling and seamless open-world experience

Developers from Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment continue to share interesting materials about Star Wars Outlaws adventure action game and its development.

IGN channel released a video with a story about how space travelling is implemented.

Here's What We Know

Star Wars Outlaws will be the first game of this franchise with a full-fledged open world, so it is important for the developers to make it interesting for gamers to travel not only on planets, but also in outer space.

Game designers noted that since the real space is almost boundless darkness, and many tens of light years between the objects, they decided that the virtual space should be smaller, but supplemented with planets, satellites, stars, stations, wrecks of huge spaceships and other elements.

Massive Entertainment has made sure that the game world feels seamless, so the ship takeoff and landing take place in real time and are not hidden by loading screens, which works in favour of the atmosphere and immersion in the game.

The video emphasises that the planets, satellites, stations and other objects open to the public are not isolated locations, but form a single ecosystem, where the player's actions affect the attitude towards him in all points of the galaxy, not just where criminal acts are directly committed. As an example, it is stated that the Imperial authorities will be looking for a lawbreaker across the galaxy.

The development team did not intend to make a comprehensive spaceship control simulator, so the movements in space in Star Wars Outlaws will not be overcomplicated and will allow to enjoy the process of flight.

Players will be able to customise the ship "Trailblazer" (Trailblazer), the design of which, by the way, is inspired by Ford Mustang car, by installing additional modules, weapons, instruments, changing its appearance.

Kay Vess will not be lonely in space, she will meet a lot of travellers, not all of whom will be friendly, and some of them may even attack the girl.

When We Can Expect It

Star Wars Outlaws will release on 30 August on PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
