The beta versions of Chrome now have Drag to Search, the analogue to Circle to Search from Google's Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices

Google is testing Drag to Search in the beta versions of ChromeOS 127 for Chromebooks and Chrome 128 for Windows PCs.

Here's What We Know

The new feature allows users to search for information by simply circling text or images on the screen. Drag to Search, also known as Circle to Search, was first introduced on Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices in January this year. It's now available on a wider range of devices, including Chromebooks and Windows and macOS PCs.

To use the new feature, users can tap the Google Lens icon in the address bar on a Chromebook or select the "Search with Google Lens" option from the overflow menu in Chrome for Windows or macOS. After selecting an area of the screen to search, the results are displayed in the sidebar, allowing you to continue browsing the current tab.

Google and Samsung are actively promoting this feature as a revolutionary change in search. It is easy to use and provides results quickly. In the future, Google plans to integrate this technology with Google Lens and other AI solutions such as Samsung Galaxy AI's Sketch to Image.
