Tesla recalls 1.8 million vehicles due to risk of bonnets detaching
Tesla has announced a recall of 1.8 million vehicles in the US due to the risk of bonnets detaching while driving.
Here's What We Know
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that the software that notifies drivers of a loose bonnet could fail. This could cause the bonnet to open while driving and block the driver's view.
The recall affects Model 3, Model S and Model X models manufactured from 2021 to 2024, as well as Model Y models manufactured from 2020 to 2024. Tesla has issued an over-the-air software update that should resolve the issue.
This recall is the next in a series of problems for the company in 2024. Previously, vehicles have been recalled due to faults in the rearview camera, warning lights, seat belts and windscreen wipers.
