Frost Giant, a studio founded by former Blizzard employees who worked on the iconic strategy games StarCraft II and Warcraft III, has released an early version of their new game Stormgate.

Here's What We Know

Stormgate, an ambitious real-time strategy game, has been released in Steam's early access, which, according to the developers, is expected to bring back the public's interest in the genre.

From the 13th of August the game will be available for free for everyone, but for now it can be purchased for a small amount of money to get exclusive sets of items and support the developers.

According to the Stormgate storyline, the world of humans is invaded by hordes of demon invaders, and mankind has no choice but to take up arms and fight the infernal creatures.

The game will be in Early Access for a year, during which the game designers will add a lot of new content and features, followed by a full-fledged release of the strategy.

Players will be offered three unique factions (Vanguard, Infernals and Celestial Armada) with different advantages, disadvantages and troops.

For fans of online matches, Stormgate has at the time of early access:

  • 1v1 skirmishes on seven maps;
  • 2v2 skirmishes;
  • an experimental MOBA-style "turf war" mode;
  • leaderboard.

Frost Giant Studios hopes that Stormgate will not only attract a new audience to the RTS genre, but will also satisfy its old fans. Cybersports competitions are planned.
