iPhone gets RCS for improved messaging with Android

With the release of iOS 18 this autumn, iPhones will support RCS for improved messaging with Android users. Today, Google released an advert to highlight this innovation.

Here's What We Know

The advert on the Android YouTube channel begins with the words: "Rich Communication Services is finally coming to iPhone".

The advert highlights three main benefits:

  • Higher resolution images and videos thanks to the cloud server;
  • The ability to log out of group chats;
  • Read notifications and input indicators that can be turned off.

The final slogan of the advert: "Better photos, videos, group chat messaging for everyone with RCS".

The advert includes a link to the updated android.com/get-the-message, which states that the availability of the service depends on the region and operator. From the beta version of iOS 18, Apple will start enabling RCS support depending on the operator, although, for example, Google Fi is not yet supported.

The official launch of iOS 18 is expected in the autumn, around September, and users who have joined the beta already have access to the new features.
