THQ Nordic has unveiled detailed gameplay footage of the remake of the cult RPG Gothic

THQ Nordic presented a detailed gameplay video of the remake of the cult RPG Gothic, which was released in 2001 and influenced the vector of RPG genre development.

Here's What We Know

Gamers were shown updated locations of the Valley of Mines, including Old Camp, New Camp and Swamps, demonstrated new movement mechanics, improved combat system, slightly changed visual style and general atmosphere of the game, which is slightly different from the original.

The developers paid special attention to simulating the life of the game world. As in the original game, each character has his own daily routine, certain tasks and habits, and some actions of the player and random events can change the behaviour of NPCs.

THQ Nordic claims that even without player intervention, the world of Gothic Remake will constantly have unexpected events and interesting situations. Gamers will be able to decide where to go, what tasks to perform and which characters to help. And almost every decision will have an impact on the development of the plot. However, according to the shown shots, it seems that in the updated game the focus is shifted towards battles and travelling, instead of communicating with characters and fulfilling their tasks.

The developers showed impressive weather effects, but we must be objective and emphasise that Gothic Remake's graphics look somewhat budgetary and inferior to the top modern innovations. But such games are loved not because of breakthrough visual effects, so if the developers from Alkimia Interactive don't make any critical mistakes, Gothic fans will get a decent remake.

When We Can Expect It

Unfortunately, this time too, no release date for Gothic Remake was announced, perhaps it will be announced at gamescom 2024, but the game is expected to be released in 2024 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

The project can already be added to your wishlist.
