The modernisation will also include the purchase of modern Western tanks for the ground forces and the re-equipment of the Croatian Navy. According to Prime Minister Plenković, Croatia has the ability to rely on its own forces, as well as to strengthen its potential within the European Union and NATO.

According to sources, by the end of 2024, the Croats may sign a contract with the Americans worth about $300 million for the purchase of HIMARS. Also, negotiations on this deal reportedly lasted for about two years.
