Media holding company Warner Bros. Discovery owns a number of major gaming companies, including Avalanche Software (Hogwarts Legacy), Rocksteady (Suicide Squad), TT Games (Lego), NetherRealm (Mortal Kombat), Monolith Productions (Middle-earth: Shadow of War) and Warner Bros. Games Montréal (Gotham Knights).

Warner Bros. games are released with varying success: Hogwarts Legacy was an undoubted hit, selling more than 22 million copies in a year, and Mortal Kombat has enjoyed steady popularity. But the releases of Media holding company Warner Bros. Discovery has admitted the release of action film Suicide Squad: Kill Justice League was a failure and Gotham Knights became a huge failure and the cause of major financial losses.

Financial Times sources said that the management of Warner Bros. Discovery is looking to make up for a 70% drop in share price and sell off some of its assets, which include not only Polish media company TVN but also unnamed game studios.

Earlier there were rumours that the US giant was ready to part with the entire WB Games division, with journalists naming Xbox, EA, Activision and Take-Two as potential buyers. However, it seems that at this point Warner Bros. Discovery has revised its plans, because only last month the corporation announced the purchase of the studio Player First Games - the authors of fighting game MultiVersus.
