Samsung patents advanced camera under high-resolution display for Galaxy Fold

Samsung, known for introducing Under Display Camera (UDC) technology in its Galaxy Fold smartphones, has recently patented a new technology that improves image quality. The current UDC implementation has a limited resolution and can be visible on the screen under certain conditions.

The patented system uses an optical sensor to improve the efficiency and discreetness of the camera.

According to the patent sketches, the new system solves two main problems: it improves image quality and minimises distortion in the sensor area. This is achieved through a special display driver that adjusts the output image in real time. The system can either switch off pixels or display a special image to reduce visual distortion.

The technology is designed for foldable devices, so it is not yet expected to be implemented in the Galaxy S or A series.
