Samsung and LG have already started mass production of displays for new iPhone 16 models
The rumours are confirmed: Apple's iPhone 16 lineup will appear on the market on time in September, despite the postponement of the Apple Intelligence package to October.
Here's What We Know
Samsung and LG have already started mass production of displays for the new iPhone 16 models. Sources in Korea report that Apple has ordered 80 million panels from Samsung and 43 million from LG, which exceeds the estimated annual iPhone 16 shipments of 90 million. This is an indication of the increased demand expected for the new models.
Both companies will benefit from these orders: LG is getting 10 million more panels compared to last year and has more than 30% of the market, while Samsung has a larger share of the more expensive panels for the Pro and Pro Max models, which increases its revenue.
BOE from China will probably not have time to obtain permits to supply panels for the iPhone 16 of this generation.
