The research into the capabilities of a remote-controlled quadrupedal system is just one example of the Pentagon's efforts to rapidly and extensively deploy drones and anti-drone technology.
The US Army has tested a four-legged unmanned ground vehicle armed with an AR-15 rifle as part of Operation Fort Drum "Hard Kill". The event is led by the Army's 10th Mountain Division and the Command and Control Development Centre. The goal of the mission is to provide the army with anti-drone capabilities.
The Ghost Robotics Vision 60 Q-UGV has a small tower that holds a rifle, a targeting system and a GoPro-like camera mounted on the front of the body. In addition, the rifle was equipped with AI, potentially for automatic targeting.
