At the annual QuakeCon festival Bethesda company and id Software studio made a great gift for fans of retro shooters and released a compilation with improved versions of DOOM + DOOM II.

Here's What We Know

The new edition offers technically improved and enhanced versions of DOOM and DOOM II. They are already available on PC (on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG), PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Game Pass.

The compilation is priced at $10 dollars. Users who already have Doom or Doom 2 in their libraries get the compilation for free.

The main features of the Doom + Doom 2 compilation:

  • The games have been transferred to the KEX engine;
  • significantly updated visuals;
  • a set of brand new levels for the single player campaign from id Software, Nightdive Studios and MachineGames;
  • support for gyroscopic aiming controllers on PlayStation and Switch;
  • improved keyboard and mouse controls;
  • enhanced performance thanks to multi-threaded rendering with support for resolutions up to 4K and 120 FPS;
  • modding support;
  • local split-screen deathmatch and four-player co-op;
  • accessibility customisations: modern fonts, high contrast mode, text-to-speech and more.
  • eight new localisations;
  • restored original soundtrack;
  • quick save/load support.
