Nova Launcher's future is in doubt after significant cuts to the development team

Popular third-party Android launcher, Nova Launcher, is facing an uncertain future after significant layoffs in its development team.

Here's What We Know

Nova Launcher team spokesperson Cliff Wade has revealed that Branch, the owner of Nova Launcher, has laid off over 100 employees, significantly reducing the development team. It is reported that there is now only one full-fledged developer left on the team - the founder of Nova Launcher, Kevin Barry.

On the official Nova Launcher social media page X, it was confirmed that updates to the app are planned despite the reduction in the team. Rob Wainwright reported that Kevin Barry is finalising a version of Nova 8.1, but with reduced functionality compared to the original plans.

Other Launcher projects have also experienced problems and team breakups in recent years. The situation with Nova Launcher is worrisome, as this project is one of the most well-known and popular in the field of Android personalisation.
