Samsung decides to recall about 1 million electric ovens in the US due to fire risk

Samsung has decided to recall more than 1 million electric ovens in the US due to a fire risk. The problem lies in faulty front knobs that can accidentally activate the oven, creating a fire hazard.

Here's What We Know

The defect has caused approximately 250 fires, resulting in significant property damage, 40 injuries, 7 pets killed, and 8 other people forced to go to emergency medical centres.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) notes that these pens are particularly sensitive and can be easily activated even with a light touch.

Samsung is already taking steps to address the issue by offering free locking pens, covers, and a notification feature through the SmartThings app for Wi-Fi models.

Consumers are advised to check their stove models to see if they are included in the recall, to exercise caution, keep children and pets away from the knobs, and not to leave flammable objects on the stove.
