Insider: Apple is preparing a thin iPhone 17 "Air"
In a new Power On newsletter from Bloomberg's Marc Gurman, there is news of a slim iPhone 17 model, which he calls the iPhone 17 "Air". This model will be Apple's attempt to revive the compact smartphone segment, after unsuccessful experiments with the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 14 Plus.
Here's What We Know
The iPhone 17 "Air" will have an aluminium body, a smaller 6.6-inch display and a smaller Dynamic Island, while retaining some premium elements. Gurman believes that this model is designed for consumers who want something more elegant than a regular iPhone, but do not need the power of the Pro model.
The analyst also emphasises that the new iPhone has a chance to be more successful than its predecessors and predicts that the iPhone range could see significant growth in 2025.
In addition, Gurman notes that Apple may release a foldable iPhone or iPad, but this may not happen until 2027.
