With care for everyone: Bloober Team implements a wide range of accessibility settings in the Silent Hill 2 remake
More and more companies are paying attention to the needs of gamers with disabilities. Sony and Microsoft are undoubted leaders in this area, but smaller developers are also actively involved in the implementation of all kinds of accessibility settings.
Polish studio Bloober Team has joined this trend.
Here's What We Know
The developers of Silent Hill 2 remake are in no hurry to reveal details of the updated version of the cult horror game, but the authors of the Horror Game Central publisher have published a list of accessibility options that will be offered in the game.
It is not yet known how comprehensive this list is, but the following is currently stated:
- adjusting the visibility and size of icons;
- enabling/disabling motion blur;
- grid settings (size, visibility, transparency and colour);
- a mode for people suffering from colour blindness;
- character colour coding (e.g. white for James, blue for allies and red for enemies);
- vibration settings on the controller;
- subtitle size and colour adjustments;
- text-based tooltips.

The original game, for all its genius, didn't take into account the special needs of gamers with various visual, hearing and motor disabilities, as this was impossible to do in 2001. It's good to see that Bloober Team will rectify this situation and give the widest possible range of horror fans the opportunity to immerse themselves in the thrilling and terrifying atmosphere of Silent Hill.
When We Can Expect It
Silent Hill 2 remake will be released on 8 October on PC and PS5.
