Norway to buy HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and ATACMS ballistic missiles from the US

The US State Department has approved the sale of HIMARS multiple rocket launchers to Norway.

Information about this appeared on the website of the Defence and Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA). The approximate amount of the contract is $580 million. It will include 16 installations and additional equipment. In addition, Norway will also buy 15 containers with M30A2 GMLRS-AW projectiles, 15 containers with M31A2 GMLRS-U projectiles and 100 M57 ATACMS ballistic missiles from the US. The order will be fulfilled by Lockheed Martin. The contract should be signed soon.

HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) is a highly mobile artillery rocket system developed by Lockheed Martin for the US military. HIMARS is designed for rapid deployment and precision strike against key targets at long distances. The system is mounted on a wheeled chassis and is capable of launching various types of missiles, including GMLRS (Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System) and ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) with a range of up to 300 kilometres.

HIMARS provides high accuracy through advanced guidance systems and can be rapidly deployed on the battlefield. Its mobility allows for rapid position changes, which increases the system's survivability in combat conditions. HIMARS has been actively used in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
