Pixel 9 adds call recording and transcription, plus free Satellite SOS for two years

Google has announced a new Pixel 9 series with several important features. Users can now take advantage of the Satellite SOS feature, which allows them to contact emergency services even without a cellular connection. In addition, new features include recording and transcription of call notes.

Here's What We Know

During a call on Pixel 9, you can activate recording and transcription by selecting the Call Notes option from the menu. Google will alert all parties to the recording and an indicator will appear on the screen. Calls must last more than 30 seconds to activate the feature. Once the call is over, the system will generate a summary that can be viewed in the Recent tab, where the full transcript and audio recording will also be available.

The Pixel 9 also includes Satellite SOS, which allows you to contact emergency services via satellite if you don't have access to cellular service.

Here's How It Works

Before sending an SOS signal, you need to fill out an emergency questionnaire to classify the problem (illness, injury, traffic incident, crime, fire, etc.). After that, the user can enter a detailed message, and Google will send information about the device's location and battery level.

Satellite SOS will initially be available in the US on Pixel 9 devices and will be free for two years. Google has partnered with Garmin Response to provide emergency services communications independent of the service provider.
