Google updates Pixel Weather app with AI integration and precipitation map

Google has announced an updated version of its weather app, Pixel Weather, which is now available on Pixel 9 and later devices. This app is the result of a redesign that first appeared with the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold, and now provides users with enhanced functionality.

Here's What We Know

The main feature of the new Pixel Weather is the integration of artificial intelligence. The app uses AI Weather Report to create personalised recommendations, for example: "It's a cold and rainy day, bring an umbrella and hold on to your hat!" or "This morning the temperature is pleasant with a high UV index." These tips are updated throughout the day to help users better plan their activities.

One of the key new features is the precipitation map, which shows the forecast for several hours ahead, allowing users to quickly assess when to expect rain or snow. In addition, the app offers an hourly forecast and a 10-day forecast in a convenient card format.

The Pixel Weather interface includes a Material You grid of shapes that shows precipitation, wind, sunrise and sunset, UV index, air quality, visibility, humidity and pressure. On Pixel 9 Pro Fold, users can enjoy an improved two-column interface.

The app's home screen displays the user's current location and a list of saved locations that are synced to their Google account. The app also has notifications for the next day's weather forecast and precipitation alerts, allowing you to stay up to date with changes.
