Google unveils Pixel Studio: a new AI-powered image creation app

Google has officially announced a new AI-powered image creation app, Pixel Studio, which will be available on the Pixel 9 series of smartphones. The app uses the Google Imagen 3 model to quickly convert text prompts into low-latency images.

Here's What We Know

Pixel Studio also offers in-app image editing features, including the ability to reposition objects and remove them from the frame.

Although the Pixel 9 smartphones were the main event at the Made by Google presentation, the announcement of Pixel Studio attracted no less attention. The app allows users to create images based on text descriptions using machine learning technology similar to that used in image generators such as Midjourney.

Pixel Studio will be available without any additional subscriptions or paid features. It is not yet known if the app will be available for older Pixel devices.

While Pixel Studio offers impressive features, it is worth noting that the new Google Tensor G4 processor does not have the same processing power as dedicated cloud-based AI hardware. That's why the Imagen 3 model is used to create images, and the device is only used to edit ready-made images.

In addition, Google also announced an enhancement to the Gemini overlay that allows you to drag and drop AI-generated images directly into emails or chats.

This release comes just a few weeks after Apple announced Image Playground for iPhone, which also promises to compete in the AI-powered image generator market.
