Samsung introduces Family Care - monitoring the health of loved ones with AI and smart devices
Samsung has unveiled a new Family Care service that allows you to remotely monitor the condition of your loved ones using smart devices.
Here's What We Know
The service, which is integrated into the SmartThings platform and Galaxy smartphones, was launched in Korea in June and will now become available in the US from 16 August. Family Care uses artificial intelligence to analyse daily activities and send notifications if abnormalities are detected. For example, the system can notify when activity starts in the morning or when there is no activity.
The service also helps set reminders to check blood pressure and take medication, as well as manage smart devices in the home. In addition, Family Care allows you to schedule doctor's appointments via your smartphone or Samsung TV. Location-based notifications can help keep track of loved ones' movements, such as doctor's appointments.
The service is free, but requires a Galaxy smartphone and likely a SmartThings hub. That could be a barrier for some users. Samsung hopes that the use of AI will improve the reliability and usability of smart devices.
