Meta postpones VR version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas indefinitely: the game was announced in 2021
Back in 2021, Meta announced that it was going to make a VR version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Now the company has officially confirmed that it has been postponed "indefinitely".
Here's What We Know
A Meta representative confirmed to IGN that the game has been postponed "indefinitely". In addition, the official Meta Quest VR account on YouTube replied to one of the users with the following: "GTA: San Andreas is on hold indefinitely while we focus on other projects. We look forward to working with our friends at Rockstar in the future."
According to IGN, the indefinite delay of GTA San Andreas VR comes as Meta is losing billions of dollars in the VR gaming market. In a new report published by Yahoo Finance earlier this month, the publication stated that the Reality Labs division is losing money, and in 2023 alone, the VR-focused division will lose $16 billion.
