Android Automotive now shows distance and arrival time with Google Maps

Android Automotive now has a new feature that displays the distance to your destination, estimated travel time and estimated arrival time using Google Maps. This updated mini-dashboard was recently introduced and is available on vehicles with Android Automotive P3.1.10, such as the Polestar 2.

Here's What We Know

After enabling Google Maps navigation, a block appears on the dashboard that shows the journey time in green, distance and local arrival time.

This innovation helps to reduce distractions while driving, as the main information is always at hand.

When a destination is reached or navigation is cancelled, the mini-panel disappears and users will see a general overview of Maps or the main Android Automotive panel. This reduces the need to frequently glance at the centre console, allowing owners to focus on the road and keep other apps such as music or media open.
