Google Maps on Wear OS gets support for offline maps
Google has announced a new feature for Wear OS users that allows them to use offline maps on their smartwatches. With the latest Google Maps update on Wear OS, maps saved on your phone are automatically synced to your watch. This allows you to access maps even when you are not connected to the Internet.
Here's What We Know
Users will be able to find a new Offline Maps option in the app's settings menu, where they can see how much space the downloaded maps take up and delete them if necessary. Maps are automatically synchronised when you connect to Wi-Fi and charge your device.
When you are offline, a special cloud icon appears on the map. This innovation is complemented by the new Find and Go option, which provides quick access to important routes, such as the way to home or work, as well as a microphone for voice input.
The new feature is available in version 11.140.0701.W of Google Maps for Wear OS and has already begun rolling out to Pixel Watch 2 users.
