Text search on images and picture-in-picture mode: Google updates the Pixel Magnifier app, expanding its functionality
Google has released an update for the Pixel Magnifier app, adding some significant improvements.
Here's What We Know
Users can now manually select a lens, including ultra-wide-angle, wide-angle, telephoto, and auto, allowing for more flexibility. The settings also include the ability to assign actions to the volume key, such as shutter, zoom, torch or disable the feature.
One of the key new features is the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, which is activated when you zoom in to 16 times or more. This mode can be disabled in the settings. After taking a picture, users can use the Photo Search feature, which displays partial matches and the location of the object in the image.
The update also adds backlighting for selfies when using the front camera, which improves the quality of photos in low-light conditions. The update is available for Pixel 5 and newer devices, with the exception of the Pixel Fold and Google tablets.
