Ring introduces a new generation of doorbells: colour night vision and a full head-to-toe view of visitors

Ring has announced the next generation of its battery-operated doorbell, which for $100 offers extended battery life, colour night vision, a new pin mounting system and a full head-to-toe view of visitors.

Here's What We Know

The new model offers a 66% higher field of view than the previous version, allowing you to see visitors completely, head to toe. The field of view is 150 by 150 degrees and this is particularly useful when you can see parcels being delivered.

The new doorbell also has a 23% longer battery life and an improved charging system compared to the previous generation, which allows the unit to be easily removed from the door with a pin. Colour night vision provides clear images both day and night. All Ring doorbells can send motion notifications, provide live video feeds, support two-way communication and customise motion zones.

With a Ring Protect subscription, users can receive people and parcel notifications, as well as access to 180 days of video history. The new doorbell is already available for pre-order on Ring.com and Amazon.com, with shipments set to begin on 4 September.
