Microsoft CEO Phil Spencer explains the release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PlayStation 5

In his speech during the Xbox live stream at Gamescom, Phil Spencer, Microsoft's CEO, said that the announcement of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PlayStation 5 is a result of previous releases of former platform exclusives on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, which brought significant success to the company.

Here's What We Know

"Going to the PlayStation announcement, obviously, last spring we launched four games – two of them on the Switch, four of them on PlayStation – and we said we were going to learn. I think at the showcase I might have said that from our learning, we’re going to do more."

According to Spencer, the success of Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment and Grounded on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch is a sign that Xbox game franchises are getting "stronger."

"It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft that the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery that we have to give back to the company, because we get a level of support from the company that is just amazing in terms of what we’re able to go do. So I look at this: how can we make our games as strong as possible, our platform continues to grow both on console, PC and cloud, and I think it’s just going to be a strategy that works for us".

For those who don't know:

During Gamescom, it became known that MachineGames' action-adventure game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released on PlayStation 5 in addition to Xbox Series and PC.

Of course, it should be clarified here that the release on Microsoft platforms will take place on 9 December this year, and on Sony platform - in the spring of next year, but still, for some people, this may seem like a certain "betrayal", since Sony did not release its former exclusives on Xbox (although it actively does it on Windows, but still).
