US allocates new $125m military aid package to Ukraine in time for Independence Day

On the eve of Ukraine's Independence Day, the USA announced additional security assistance.

Here's What We Know

The cost of the new military aid package is $125 million. It includes air defence equipment, ammunition for missile systems and artillery, as well as anti-tank weapons.

Specifically, the aid package includes:

  • equipment and ammunition to counter unmanned aerial systems (c-UAS);
  • ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS);
  • 155 mm and 105 mm artillery ammunition;
  • tube-launched, optically tracked, wire-guided missiles (TOW);
  • Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems;
  • High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs);
  • small arms ammunition;
  • medical equipment;
  • explosive equipment and ammunition;
  • spare parts, support equipment, services, training, transport.

""As Ukraine prepares to celebrate its Independence Day on August 24 — more than two and a half years since the Kremlin launched its full-scale invasion — the United States and the international coalition of some 50 Allies and partners remain committed to supporting Ukraine’s brave defenders that continue to fight against Russian aggression"," the Pentagon said in a press release.
