Galaxy Watch 5 gets Global AoD feature in South Korea: saving information on the screen in Always-on Display mode

Samsung continues to improve its smartwatches with the release of the fourth One UI 6 Watch beta update for the Galaxy Watch 5 series. The update introduces an important new feature called Global AoD (Always-on Display), which was previously only available on the new Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra models.

Here's What We Know

The fourth beta version of One UI 6 Watch with firmware number ZXH4 is already available for Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro users in South Korea. The update is about 400 MB in size and, in addition to the new Global AoD feature, includes numerous improvements to system stability, performance and battery efficiency.

Global AoD allows the screen to display previous content even when in AoD mode with a clock overlay. This allows users to access information without having to activate the screen by touch.

Samsung also claims that the update improves app launch speeds and addresses cellular network issues. Although this is a beta update, many experts speculate that it could be the last before the official release of the stable version of One UI 6 Watch.

The Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra were the first Wear OS 5 smartwatches to run One UI 6 Watch. This update will eventually be available for the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 6 series as well.
