Apple expects sales growth and increases production of iPhone 16. Only demand for the iPhone 16 Plus is not expected to increase

Apple is expected to hold a major autumn presentation on 10 September, where it will unveil its new iPhone 16 line of smartphones. Ahead of the event, The Elec revealed information about the company's shipments and production plans.

Here's What We Know

So, according to the leak, this year Apple expects good sales, so it increases the production of new products. In total, the company plans to produce about 90.1 million iPhone 16, which is more than last year's figure of 86.2 million.

37% of the total volume (or 33.2 million units) are Pro Max models - it is on them Apple makes the biggest bets. For comparison, last year 24.2 million iPhone 15 Pro Max were released.

The iPhone 16 Pro figure is 30% or 26.6 million. Last year's 15 Pro had a smaller number - 21.8 million. The regular iPhone 16 will show a modest growth from 21.8 million units to 24.5 million (27%).

But the iPhone 16 Plus will be the only model in the lineup whose production Apple will reduce. Planned production of the iPhone 15 Plus last year was 8.5 million, but this year it's only 5.8 million, or 6% of the total iPhone 16 production. Apparently, demand for the Plus model is decreasing every year, so rumours that Apple will replace it with another iPhone variant in the future could be true.
