Rumour: cancelled Crash Bandicoot 5 could have included Spyro as a playable character

New information has emerged about the allegedly cancelled Crash Bandicoot 5. According to the YouTube channel DidYouKnowGaming, after the release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, a small team of Toys for Bob began brainstorming ideas for the next game in the series after the release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.

Here's What We Know

However, Activision allegedly cancelled the project after a few months, refocusing the studio's efforts on live games. This decision may have been influenced by the disappointing sales of Crash 4, although official sales figures have never been disclosed.

One of the concepts for Crash Bandicoot 5 involved the introduction of the dragon Spyro as a second playable character, who would team up to fight an interdimensional threat after their worlds collided. Other ideas included a school environment for young villains and the return of past antagonists.

Concept art from the cancelled project was featured in a DidYouKnowGaming video. Toys for Bob has since parted ways with Activision, and their next game, rumoured to be Spyro 4, is currently being published by Microsoft.
